In the spirit of community and discovery, we offer a variety of activities and programs around the Hudson Valley for girls to participate in. Some of our programming from the school year extends into summer, and other day-long workshops suited for the warmer months are rolled out. We also partner with different week-long camps in the area to give our girls a diversity of experiences and the chance to make new friends. Summer months are a chance for us to get to welcome new participants who might not otherwise be able to commit to our programs during the school year.

July 1-3: Young Photographer’s Workshop [Ages 12-16]

For the past three summers, we have been working with Photographer and Multidisciplinary Visual Artist Saskia Kahn and LightField Festival to immerse youth in the world of photography and help to awaken their creative agency. This hands-on workshop gives girls the opportunity to learn all about camera basics, alternative processes, visual literacy, and writing, increasing confidence in students’ artistic process. This summer, participants will be creating a collective experimental video piece focusing on climate change and the Hudson Valley. Past participants’ work was featured at the Half King Gallery in NYC as well as at Hudson Hall as part of the LightField Festival. No prior photography experience needed, just an interest and commitment to learning, engaging and experimenting!

July 8-11: BOOST Camp: Fitness, Hiking, and Swimming [Ages 11-16]

This is our take on “boot camp”, intended to give girls a fun BOOST as the summer revs up! Specifically, all girls 6th grade and up who plan on attending Camp Fowler must do Boost Camp with us to get ready for our time at camp. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by immense beauty here in the Hudson Valley, and this is a chance for us to go exploring- outdoors! We will embark on some day hikes as well as swimming in local lakes. We will also be getting our fitness on, doing circuits, yoga, and some light cardio. Any other girls are welcome to participate- sneakers and water bottles are a must!

July 14-19: Camp Fowler (overnight in the Adirondacks) [Ages 9-16]

Current Perfect Ten girls are invited to join the girls of the Lower East Side Girls Club of New York at Camp Fowler in the Speculator, NY for a week away. Camp Fowler is a magical place. This overnight camp is set on a beautiful lake in the picturesque Adirondacks. Girls stay in cabins and experience traditional camp activities, including swimming, hiking, crafts, and stargazing, and the chance to create bonds that last a lifetime. And the best part- no phones allowed! Truly a week away in peace.

July 22-26: West African Dance, Drumming, & Cooking [Ages 10-18]

We partner with PS21 to offer an amazing West African Dance and Drumming Workshop. Girls spend half the day learning traditional dance and drumming from Mali with the ever-talented Jamal Jackson and his dance company, and the other half cooking delicious West African inspired cuisine with chef educators from the Sylvia Center. At the end of the week, participants put on a lively performance on PS21’s beautiful stage.

July 29-31: SHAKER It Up: Arts Immersion Camp [Ages 11-16]

We are so excited to offer an Arts Immersion Camp in partnership with the Shaker Museum this summer! Each day, the workshops will be led by a different artist who will provide an immersive, hands-on program to explore each individual girls’ artistic expression. Monday and Tuesday we will be at the Perfect Ten clubhouse, and Wednesday will be traveling to the Shaker Museum's historic site in New Lebanon.

August 1-2: Creative Writer’s Workshop [Ages 11-16]

Coming from London, teacher and author Lizzie Bauer will provide a safe space in which young people will have the opportunity to translate their own personal journeys and ideas into fictional narratives designed to be shared with peers and younger children. They will be guided on how best to present their imaginings in a delightful, hardcover book that they can keep, pass-on or continue to work on: but not before actually reading it to children in our community!

August 5-7: Glamour Camp: Hair, Nails, and Skin [Ages 9-12]

We will be working with professional hair stylists, nail artists, and skin care experts to do spa-themed days out of our clubhouse and around town! We will learn from special guests, visit salons, and pamper ourselves. Participant will learn new tips and tricks and practice on each other. Activities will include blowdrying, facials, skin care routines, exploring beauty products, doing acrylic nails, and more.

August 8-9: Hudson Valley Day Trips [Ages 9-14]

We will be taking fun, action-packed day trips to Kington and New Paltz, and may Beacon, too! There is so much that the Hudson Valley has to offer. Let’s get out and explore together.

August 12-15: Boston Trip for Teens [Ages 15-18]

Check back for more info on our trip to Boston this summer!

+ Art OMI Camp

Art OMI so generously provides scholarships for Perfect Ten girls to participate in their world class art camp. This day camp is “a unique, arts-based day program where kids explore contemporary art and ideas through a variety of media and experiences for ages 6-13 (must be 6 at time of camp).” There is a swimming pool!! Please inquire with us for more information. Priorities go to current Perfect Ten girls.

+ Swimming Lessons

It’s time for all girls to learn how to swim! Schedule swimming lessons with Emily. We will use noodles and kickboards to get comfortable in the water and then practice different strokes. Boost your confidence in the water and perfect your form.

+ Teen Job Training & Placement

We are working on another job training and money management course, this time in conjunction with Hudson Hall! Participants will be paid and eligible for internships around Hudson. Currently, Perfect Ten girls are working at LOOK, Hudson Clothier, Basilica, Planned Parenthood, and Ichiche. There are more jobs to be had, and we want to help connect teen girls to amazing learning and working opportunities!
